Can a Computerized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program Help Depression?

A study in Japan tested people from two companies, one of which included multiple departments, to see if an internet computerized cognitive behavioral therapy program (iCBT) would help prevent major depressive episodes. They found the answer to be a resounding, yes! Of the two groups, the intervention group was given a six-week course of the iCBT program. They reported fewer incidents of major depressive episodes than the control groups that received only normal preventive mental health care. The control group was later given the opportunity to use the iCBT program at their six-month followup.
