Telephone-CBT Is Effective For Adolescents With OCD

The Beck Institute conducted a study to see if telephone-CBT (TCBT) is as effective as traditional CBT. They followed 72 teens, ages 11-18, with OCD. Each group was given the same treatment, the only difference was whether they received CBT or TCBT. The results showed that there was no inferior difference between the two methods at the three and six month follow up and no difference at the 12 month follow up. The analysis is that TCBT is just as effective as CBT and, hopefully, more people will be able to receive the treatment they need.
