A 40-year-old article in Newsweek magazine about depression is a revelation about how far science and therapists have come regarding understanding and treating this affliction. The article cites lithium and electric shock therapy (EST) as the up-and-coming answers to anyone who suffers from depression. The article talks about “endogenous” and “exogenous” depression, and the causes for each category.
