Acupuncture for Depression

Britain’s University of York published a study stating that antidepressants used in conjunction with acupuncture are more effective than stand-alone medications. Researchers also tested therapeutic counseling combined with antidepressants as well, which worked as well as the acupuncture and drugs combination. The randomized study of 755 men and women was intended to evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture and counseling for patients with moderate to severe depression. The World Health Organization has previously recognized acupuncture as an effective approach to depression. Many studies also advocate consistent physical exercise, at least 30 minute sessions, to help alleviate depression.
