Almonds for Weight Control

Nuts are good for you, especially almonds. They are really good for your waistline. Almonds in a snack size portion, about a 1.5-ounce serving, daily provide an increase of vitamin E and healthy monounsaturated fats. At Purdue University, five groups of 137 adults with an elevated risk of type 2 diabetes were encouraged to eat almonds with meals or as snacks. The university researchers found that all the participants (with the exception of the control groups) reported hunger reduction, tempered appetites, and no weight gain. Other studies at the Nurses’ Health Study at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and the Harvard School of Public Health substantiate these health benefits, including heart health.
