Are Relaxation Drinks Worthwhile?

Do relaxation drinks really bring the calm and relaxation they promise? According to the Wall Street Journal, relaxation drinks raked in $32 million in the U.S.  in 2012. As traditional soft drink sales continue to decline, these drinks are seeking to carve out a niche beverage market, much like the 6 billion dollar energy drink market. Ingredients like sleep agents melatonin, valerian, L-theanine and GABA are listed, but quantities are often unknown. Recent investigations have uncovered the fact that many of these beverages contain only trace amounts of the sleep inducing ingredients. It seems that the only thing offered in a lot of these drinks is the power of suggestion.
