Breathwalking: A Meditative Exercise
If you are a mover and a shaker – literally – you may find that meditating in a lotus position chanting, “Om….” may be close to impossible for you. And it certainly is going to be neither meditative nor relaxing if you can’t bring yourself to sit still. If that is the case, you may want to try walking meditation or breathwalking. The purpose of contemplative walking is to focus on synchronized breathing and stride so that you can develop mindfulness and appreciate the present moment. Even those who are adept at seated, stationery meditation may find that practicing stepping, breathing and mental counting is an effective calming technique.
