Cognitive Behavior Therapy

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) was developed by Dr. Aaron T. Beck, and is a form of psychotherapy in which the client and therapist work together to identify and solve problems. Using Cognitive Behavior Therapy, therapists help their clients overcome their difficulties by changing their thinking, behavior, and emotional responses. Studies have found that CBT is effective in treating many psychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and substance abuse problems. Used as an adjunctive treatment to medication, CBT is effective with serious mental disorders, such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. CBT is also useful in treating some medical disorders.
