Coping with Loss During Illness
The chronically ill often struggle with depression. The reason why is because they experience so much loss, and not just their health.
They can lose the ability to live on their own, financial stability, and the vitality that provided the spark in life. These losses lead to a drop in motivation which only compounds their health problems.
Those who are ill can change this pattern of decline by making goals for themselves, challenging their lack of motivation, and advocating for themselves.
