Deepak Chopra’s Advice On Healing After Tragedy
According to Deepak Chopra, two very different reactions occur when we learn of horrific events such as the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. He says that the first is a numbing shock and the second is a rush of activity that is a direct reaction to the shock. Following every detail of a terrible occurrence, reliving these events over and over, will work against the healing process. Chopra offers several active ways we can help one another heal. These include actual physical touching and being with others, speaking quietly and gently, staying away from negative people and conversations, keeping life structured, and trying to listen and learn from others’ points of view.
