Do You Know Your Fitness Age?
What isw your “fitness age”? Dr.Ulrik Wisloff, director of the K. G. Jebsen Center of Exercise in Medicine at the Norwegian University, believes that your fitness age “is the single best predictor of current and future health.” Devised by researchers in Norway, a person’s fitness age can be determined by measuring height, body mass index (BMI), resting heart rate, HDL (“good”) cholesterol and total cholesterol, and how long an individual could run on a treadmill before exhaustion. Researchers found that fitness and chronological don’t necessarily correlate. The determining factor is how well the body delivers oxygen delivery to cells, which points to longer life span.
