Would it surprise you to know that you might not be listening to your spouse as well as you could? Most couples believe they listen to each other pretty well. Do they?

Often, each partner knows, in depth, what their spouse’s complaints about them are. That assessment is usually confirmed by the other party. This is a good sign that they are truly listening. However, it also shows that there seems to be a gap between what they know the issues are and what they do about them.

When asked how well they know each other’s likes – what evokes feelings of being loved, appreciated, and respected – suddenly the answer doesn’t come so easily. Why?
