Eights Take Over

Do you know an “Eight”? Do they believe there are only two sides to an issue- their side and the wrong side? Black and white thinking is the key characterization of an “eight” in the enneagram world. Fox News and MSNBC are overflowing with political opinion commentators of a similar mind, touting solutions for a successful nation while simultaneously berating colleagues or politicians for their “obviously” ridiculous perspectives. Eights are certain, they talk loud and in absolutes. Their energy is spent debating, alleging, and convincing. There is very little space for compromise or problem solving. Eights may be well served by considering that there just may other viewpoints than their own.
