Fine Distinctions – Subtypes

When examining your Enneagram style, it is important to consider three subtypes connected to survival, close relationships, and social connection. Do you habitually focus your energy toward the basics of survival like food, safety, and your home or shelter? Is your primary focus on your close friends or mate? Maybe your thoughts are pulled towards social acceptance and recognition from your community? As you examine your subtypes, determine whether they are healthy or limiting. Most people have a dominant subtype, expressed in the daily context of their lives and interactions. They are useful in understanding motivation and expression among people that share an Enneagram style.
