Showing gratitude isn’t just about being kind, it also improves your mood and can help improve your mental health.
How Thankfulness Helps
One psychologist conducted brain scans of themselves while writing a book. The first scan established a baseline for brain function. The scans showed that when they focused on fear, activity in the cerebellum, which affects how we solve problems, was reduced. Also, activity in the temporal lobes, which affect mood and memory, was lower too.
Using gratitude can help prevent this from happening by focusing on the positive.
