The anxiety, depression, and feelings of helplessness often experienced by those suffering from chronic pain can be overwhelming. A new treatment might offer hope, but if the sufferer doesn’t get better, life can come crashing down even farther than the hope had lifted it. Coming to grips with the loss of independence and function due to chronic pain can cause great grief.
It’s of the utmost importance that the sufferer and his or her family learn to recognize the symptoms of these problems to avoid the possible risk of suicide. How can learning mindfulness and having a positive attitude be of help in this case?
