The Link Between Loneliness and Colds
Research shows that loneliness can make cold symptoms worse
Participants were exposed to the cold virus and then stayed for five days in a hotel. They were also assessed for their level of loneliness before participating. Although those scored higher for being lonely had no greater risk of getting sick, they did have more severe cold symptoms while sick. This has implications for how loneliness contributes to other health issues such as heart disease or even premature death.
