Mindfulness For Migraine
A study conducted by Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center shows that mindfulness meditation can improve migraines. They followed 19 adults with migraines, 10 of whom were taught mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR). The other nine were given standard medical treatment. The 10 attended eight weekly classes for MBSR and were asked to practice on their own for 45 minutes a day, at least five days a week. The result was that those who used the MBSR had fewer migraines and, when they did have them, the migraines did not last as long and were less severe. They also had 1.4 fewer migraines in a month than the people in the other group.
