According to research, regular meditation has proven to be a great benefit for members of many branches of the military – both for active and inactive duty members. Studies are being conducted on the ways meditation boosts the quality of life of those with chronic pain, helps cancer patients manage stress, and activates certain brain regions that can control pain.
Mindfulness meditation comes into play because it helps train the mind to focus on the present moment. It offers the possibility of managing pain in any place, at no cost. Integrating it into a program for military health care could reduce costs by 43%.
