Mindfulness and Weight Loss

The current research finds that practicing mindfulness can be helpful for losing weight and keeping the weight off.

The Science Regarding Mindful Weight Loss

The study assessed 19 research projects that included 1,160 people and addressed weight loss and mindfulness. When determining mindfulness they focused on:  formal mediation, casual mindfulness for eating, and a combination of meditation and mindfulness.

What they found was that participants lost 3.3% body weight during the studies. This was less than non-mindfulness participants at 4.7%. However, once the studies were done, the mindfulness group continued to lose weight at 3.5%.
