A specific form of Hatha yoga, lyenger yoga, is known to help ease back pain for those who practice it. Iyengar yoga was developed by B. K. S. Iyengar. It emphasizes detail, precision, and alignment and helps develop strength, mobility, and stability. Recently, researchers have begun to investigate if lyengar yoga could also help ease neck pain. At a variety of study centers in Germany and Austria, patients were assigned to either a yoga group or an exercise group. Results showed a significant reduction in neck pain among the participants in the yoga group, and researchers concluded that lyenger yoga could be as effective for neck pain as it is for lower back pain.
