Researchers recently collaborated to study mediumship. How accurate are mediums, what does their mental look like as they supposedly communicate with the deceased? Mediums were given the first name of a deceased person and 25 questions about them. They verbally shared their answers and were scored for correctness by those who knew the deceased subject. Three of four tested mediums provided “statistically significant results.” To address the concerns of skeptics, mediums were also guided through four mental states; recollection, perception, fabrication, and communication. All mediums were found to show reliable differences in brain activity. Though communication with the dead hasn’t been proven, the study does provide enough results to warrant further research of the phenomenon.
