No More Mammograms?
There seems to be no difference in breast cancer survival between women who have mammograms and those who do not. How can this be, given the credibility given to the screening method by the medical community for decades? According to the BMJ (British Medical Journal), who published the findings of an extensive Canadian study of 90,00 women, patients are not aware of the limitations associated with mammography. The study revealed that not only was mammography ineffective in shrinking the mortality rate, it was to blame for a high degree of over-diagnosis, or highlighting non-threatening pre-cancers, thereby subjecting women to treatment for cancers that never would have endangered their lives.
