Produce Each Day Keeps Blues Away

The old adage of “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” may be truer than we thought. A recent study of the eating habits of 80,000 people in the United Kingdom at Dartmouth College and Britain’s University of Warwick has found a link between the amount of fresh produce consumed and the mental and emotional health of the subjects. Even with other variables such as diet, alcohol consumption, and social, economic, and demographic elements factored in, researchers found that happiness and mental health rose with the number of daily servings of fruit and vegetables. Reports of well-being appeared to peak at seven daily servings.
