Research Shows CBT Aids in Post-Cancer Treatments
Based on a recently published study, new treatment options appear to be available to patients who suffer from menopausal symptoms following breast cancer treatment. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) appeared to significantly reduce menopausal symptoms for a group of volunteers who had recently received breast cancer treatments. CBT helps individuals understand the emotions that influence their behaviors. Participants reported improved mood, better sleep, and an improved quality of life. The research also reported that the results were maintained after 26 weeks. The study concluded that adding CBT along with traditional forms of breast cancer treatment may be very helpful to patients who suffer from confusing or intricate menopausal symptoms.
