Self-Critical and Socially Anxious
People that are self-conscious are often those that take others’ behavior personally. This development is actually part of growing up. Children usually think that everything is about them due to the judgment center of our brain not being fully developed.
However, some people never grow out of this type of thinking. Why?
Self-conscious people often feel ashamed, embarrassed, and disrespected and for that reason react by either defending themselves or submitting passively. In either case, they take another person’s criticism literal, personal, and serious. In the end, they only feel more insecure, judged, and inferior than before.
