“Stop Talking” To Improve Relationship Closeness
There are times when it’s possible to talk a relationship to death. Sometimes the best communication between partners involves very little talking at all. Preserve the peace in you relationship. Consider the following “no talk” situations:
· After a conflict cease-fire. Reset the relationship, focusing forward.
· During “together time.” Resist the urge to encourage your partner to talk. Simply communicate affection by your expression and touch.
· When you’re really tired. Sleep deprivation makes people cranky. Spare yourself the misunderstandings and sleep.
· When you’re being romantic. Don’t talk; just go with it.
· When you’re using technology. Don’t fight it; use it as a point of humor, make allowances, and be flexible.
