“Stress” and “Security” Points

The Enneagram highlights a core personality style, but you are more multidimensional than that. Other Enneagram styles will show up during times of stress, or when a quick response is required. When the situation calls for it, a variety of character facets very different from your normal Enneagram style will emerge. These styles are called “stress points” and “security points”. Some should be nurtured and others should be avoided. Different contexts bring out different styles; in a panicked state, a very different style emerges than the style that comes to the surface in a highly relaxed state.
