The 6 Fighting Words All Couples Know and Hate
For the most part, it’s not the terribly offensive words that cause a heated discussion to blow up into a verbal battle, but it often involves six seemingly innocent words.
- Nothing – often a fake answer for the question “What’s wrong?”
- Seriously – belittles the other person’s seriousness when used as a question
- Whatever – shows complete disregard to the other person’s feelings
- Nevermind – not just belittles, but plainly states the other person is too dumb to understand
- Fine – a mock capitulation that is both dismissive and manipulative
- Chill out – negates any reasonable reason why the other person might feel upset
