Alice Boyes, PhD, wrote a book entitled The Anxiety Toolkit. In it, she talks about how anxiety plays a part in many of our lives, and how we try to eliminate our anxiety in ways that just make it worse. She also identifies common anxiety problems, and solutions for how to deal with them. For example, perfectionism can be a good thing, and many people attribute their success to it. The problem arises when a perfectionist meets his goal or fails to meet his goal. If the goal is met, he feels as though it wasn’t hard enough. If he fails, he can lose all confidence in himself.
