Among the enneagram’s chart of personalities, a Type Six can sometimes be seen as having very contradictory tendencies. Because of his or her imagination and sense of caution, a perceived threat can be treated either as a friend or foe. The Type Six may choose to cultivate a friendship with an individual whom he thinks is dangerous, but the Six may believe that this is a better alternative than either fight-or-flight. Sixes prefer to have another person in the vanguard, but, if they find themselves paired with a Type 9 (who is not going to initiate any action at all, especially in the face of danger), then a Six will find the best way to make lemonade out of lemons without any help.
