The Wisdom of Altruism

It is time for us to recall our shared humanity. Blatant selfishness, increased isolation, and unchecked consumerism have taken their toll. Religion and traditional values no longer impose the kind of restraints they used to. In order to recover,  altruism must once again be embraced, “the world is my family” must resurge as our prevailing philosophy. We can longer remain or encourage each other to be “willfully blind” to poverty, the underserved, disabled, or outsiders. Love, compassion, empathy will give rise to true contentment and true understanding. A return to altruism will restore awareness of our mutual interests, our collective desire for peace, and our need for each other.
