Too Stressed to Exercise? Try Meditation

Stress comes with a wide variety of symptoms and may potentially affect physical exercise. This can be particularly problematic for an athlete. Not only can stress affect focus on the task at hand, but training under stress can cause hormonal imbalances. In turn, these imbalances can contribute to higher likelihood of injury and longer recovery times due to slow muscle repair.

What coping strategy might work best if you’ve noticed your performance slacking? Meditation or guided visualization, combined with controlled breathing might be the key. These practices have been proven to decrease stress levels and bring back balance.
