Using Mindfulness to Remind Us to Do Unto Others

Interactions with people are often difficult because people are often difficult. Mindfulness may be just the strategy to help you offer patience and understanding in a way that preserves your relationship. Ask yourself:

A) “Would I want them to be upset with me if I said or did that?”

B) “ Would I want them to hold a grudge or stay angry with me?”

This will help you gain perspective and emotional calm. Mindfulness can help you appreciate the moment without indulging past resentment or future worries. You’ll be able to search out an explanation for the other person’s behavior, and deal with it peacefully, whether the explanation brings you closer or not.
