Web-based CBT Skills for Carers of Individuals with Anorexia Nervosa
How do you love someone through a disorder like anorexia nervosa without doing damage to yourself or your relationship? The stress on loved ones is a very real concern, taxing families struggling with the condition. Partners and family members may unintentionally do harm by becoming too involved or critical of the person with anorexia. A study was conducted to investigate and determine how well internet-based cognitive-behavioral (CBT) intervention worked for caregivers and loved ones. The intervention was designed to reduce stress, and provide support skills. Participants who were provided the intervention showed a significant reduction in anxiety and depression, as well as emotional expression at four and six-month followup, post-treatment assessments.
