James O’Dea, author and international social activist, contends that each of us has a predominant style of conflict resolution. He also believes that each of us can observe the way other people resolve issues and modify our own style to become better conflict resolution managers. O’Dea labels these different management styles as “energy management” and identifies several different kinds of energy management that he has seen people employ. He believes that you can recognize people whose leadership encompasses one of the following: passive-aggressive style, dominance, avoidance, or becoming emotional victims. O’Dea challenges each of us to recognize our own attributes and attempt to cultivate a healthy conflict resolution style.
