Exercise And Lower Motivation For Food

People often say they have “worked up an appetite” after a vigorous workout, but a recent study indicates that moderate-to-vigorous workouts actually reduce a person’s motivation for food. In the study, 35 women walked for 45 minutes on a treadmill, then attached to an EEG machine and shown 240 pictures, 120 of plated food and 120 of flowers. A week later the same test was run without the exercise. Not only were brain responses to the food lower after the exercise, there was an increase in physical activity for the whole day. The day they exercised, the women didn’t eat more food to make up for the calories they burned.
