Facing the Stigma of Depression

Depression is a common mental health condition found all over the world. Yet, there is still much stigma when it comes to getting treatment.

Stereotypes about people who struggle with depression still exist

For most people, these stereotypes start during childhood. People with depression may be seen as undisciplined or weak. Or, they are perceived as being somehow dangerous. There is also the pervasive perception that feeling sad or negative a bad thing. Feeling sad is normal, but when it goes on too long it’s time to get help.
