If you’d like to be doing just fine in your 70’s, keep doing what you did to get there! Keep eating your fruits and vegetables and getting some daily exercise to maintain your good health in your golden years. A recent five-year study followed more than 700 women, ages 70 to 79, who were living independently. They tested the women’s blood for carotenoids which represent fruit and vegetable consumption and questioned them about their daily exercise habits. The women with the highest carotenoid levels were 46% less likely to die during the study. The most active women had a 71% lower death rate compared to the most sedentary.
