Human Flourishing, which is the realization of our potential for enduring happiness, well being, expansive consciousness, and serenity is innate to our essential nature, our authentic self. To discover our authentic self, we need tools like meditation to penetrate the surface experiences of the mind and gain an understanding of its workings and essential nature. The problem is, in our day, meditation has become a relaxation tool to calm the mind and relieve stress. It has become a quick-fix instead of the investigative tool it started out as. Used properly, meditation uncovers cognitive misunderstandings that obscure our authentic self, revealing the qualities of our expansive consciousness.
