Researchers are studying not just whether mindfulness can help people with their jobs, but also which mindfulness practices help best.
In a recent study, 118 people who had problems mentally detaching from work, were split into two groups. One group participated in mindfulness activities while the other group was used as a control. Not surprisingly, the first group saw benefits from engaging in mindfulness.
The key to this was focusing on experiences that occurred in the moment. Being present allowed participants to tune out other intruding thoughts about work.
