The Enneagram: Style One–The Critic

The chief characteristic of Ones is that they try to make everything better. When they are balanced and healthy, Ones are morally heroic and make sacrifices for the greater good. They are balanced in their judgments and uncompromising in their principles. What’s right concerns them, whether it’s morals or esthetics. They are objective in their judgments and clear about what’s right and wrong. They are prophets and reformers. When Ones are unhealthy, their vision narrows, their concerns diminish, they begin to moralize, and they get picky about little rules. Regardless of consequences, unhealthy Ones always go by the book, develop either/or thinking, and don’t pay attention to anyone’s emotions.
